The Alpharetta City Council officially adopted the North Point Development Framework Plan — a forward-thinking blueprint designed to guide the transformation of the North Point District over the next thirty years. The Framework provides a vision for a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use district organized around a network of streets, trails, parks, and green infrastructure. It supports sustainable, high-value redevelopment while ensuring the district evolves in line with the community’s long-term goals.
A key feature of the plan is reorienting the district around Big Creek and the Greenway, transforming these environmental assets into a centerpiece for North Point’s redevelopment. A proposed grid of streets — using existing intersections and access roads — introduces a system of “superblocks” that can be divided into smaller, walkable sub-districts as development progresses.
To improve connectivity, the plan layers in new trails and park spaces, extending the Greenway’s reach and creating an interconnected, active transportation network. These dynamic green spaces serve as focal points within each sub-district, restoring natural water features and providing community gathering places that support a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly environment.
The Framework also outlines a range of development typologies, blending low- to mid-density residential, mixed-use, and office spaces. It offers practical guidance for private landowners and developers, demonstrating how different components can come together to reshape North Point into a greener, more walkable, and economically dynamic district.
